How does EnergyEase work?
We install a complete solar and battery system on your property. You don’t buy the equipment or take out a loan. Instead, you simply pay for the electricity the system produces, at a rate that starts lower than what most municipalities charge. Think of it as switching to a better electricity provider that happens to be on your roof.
What does it cost to get started?
There’s a once-off, non-refundable setup fee of R4,000. This covers your smart meter, municipal registration, and administration. After that, you only pay for the power your system produces, starting at R3.59/kWh. There are no other upfront costs.
How much will I save?
Your savings depend on your current electricity spend and your municipality’s tariff. In the first year, you’ll typically see a modest saving. But because municipal tariffs rise 8–12% annually while your EnergyEase rate increases by just 6%, the savings grow significantly from year two onwards. A typical household could save over R300,000 across the 10-year agreement. Use our calculator on this page for your personalised estimate.
How long is the agreement?
10 years. At the end, you can purchase the system at a pre-agreed price, upgrade to newer technology, or simply end the agreement. Early exit is also possible, we’ll provide a buyout schedule on request.
Who handles maintenance and repairs?
We do. There are no maintenance costs for you. If anything needs attention, our team takes care of it as part of your agreement.
What happens during a power outage?
Your battery kicks in automatically. The system keeps your essentials running. Lights, Wi-Fi, home office, security, even during extended outages. It also monitors the weather and pre-charges your battery when storms are forecast, so you’re prepared before an outage even starts.
How does the billing work?
We install a smart meter that records how much solar power your home uses each day. You top up a digital wallet through the EnergyEase app, EFT, or your banking app, similar to prepaid electricity, but based on what your system actually produces. Billing happens daily.
Is my home suitable?
Most homes with a decent roof and a monthly electricity bill over R2,600 are a great fit. Our team will do a quick assessment of your roof size, orientation, and shading to confirm. The calculator on this page gives you a good first indication.
Can I add EV charging to my system?
Yes. If you own or are planning to buy an electric vehicle, we can add a fast home charger and extra panels to your system. You’ll charge your car directly from your roof at the same low rate. It’s the most affordable way to run an EV, around R676/month compared to R2,600+ on petrol. Just ask about the EV upgrade when you design your system.
